I’d like to introduce you to my 33% scale Ultimate biplane. I started building this model more than 20 years ago, around the time that large, petrol driven model aircraft engines were becoming popular. The kit was originally from Ohio R/C Models and engine is a Brison from Revolution Engines. However, life got in the way and the semi finished fuselage and wings have lain around the house for far to many years.

At the end of 2016 I finally picked the project up again, expecting to have the model finished any flying before the summer of 2017. However, I had in mind finishing it with a paint scheme that would do homage to the (full size) Extra 300L that I used to own – G-KAYH. This decision turned out of lead to something of a challenge as completing the paint job took at least three months. The model was finished in October 2017, just in time for the weather to change. So, as of writing this post, the model has only had a few test flights and I’m still refining various aspects of it.

I hope that it will be fully operational during the spring/summer of 2018, finally after so many years.
